Fall Back in Love with Your Marketing

If you scroll for more than a few minutes right now, you’re likely going to see an Olympics-based ad. You’ll probably see dozens of recaps, commentary videos, and hot takes all about the Olympics.

And it feels like maybe it’s too busy online right now to stand out. And maybe you feel a little defeated by the prospect of marketing your business again this week.

But there’s always something happening in the world.

Right now it’s the Olympics, but next week it’ll be new platform changes, or algorithm shifts or another snowstorm. You get it.

It’s very easy to feel disconnected from your business and your marketing. If you’ve fallen a little out of love with showing up online, you’re not alone.

With Valentine’s Day coming up, let's bring some love back to it.

Use this week to share love with your audience like in this example of a gratitude post I shared last week.

Falling Back in Love with Your Online Presence

Valentine’s Day is all about connection, and honestly, this can also apply to your business too.

Somewhere along the way, marketing became about doing more. Posting more. Selling more. Keeping up with everyone else. Chasing trends. Watching numbers. Comparing yourself constantly, and can we just say this gets EXHAUSTING really fast!

And that’s usually when the love disappears.

And just like your IRL relationships, when you fall a little out of love, you can spend some time dedicated to finding ways to fall back in love all over again.

What Did You Love Before?

Your social media marketing works best when it’s rooted in building connections. Not by being pressured to post and feeling overworked trying to keep up.

Your audience, like you, doesn’t want to be sold to every time they see your content.

They want to feel seen and appreciated. AND like there is a real human behind the brand.

Think about how you show love in real relationships.

  • You listen.

  • You show up consistently.

  • You say thank you.

  • You check in.

  • You ask questions.

  • You have conversations.

  • You don’t only reach out when you want something.

It’s exactly the same when you’re building relationships online.

When you share why you love what you do, when you celebrate your customers and your wins, when you talk about your journey, your values, and even the messy middle and the hard days, you build trust.

And trust is what leads to long-term clients, referrals, repeat customers, and loyalty.

Treat Your Audience like a Friend

When you’re feeling burnt out on posting, try to think of posts you would share with a friend instead.

People support businesses they feel connected to and feel like they can trust.

So this Valentine’s week, instead of stressing about what to post or trying to be clever or salesy, ask yourself this one simple question:

How can I reconnect with my audience in a meaningful way?

Here are a few post ideas:

  • Share a post about what you’re grateful for.

  • Tell a story about a recent interaction that made you laugh.

  • Highlight your customers.

  • Share what got your business started.

  • Re-introduce yourself.

When you care about the community you’re building online, they feel it. And when they feel it, they stick around!

Gratitude is one of the most underrated marketing tools, and it works because it’s real. What are you grateful for when it comes to your audience?
