New Year, New Profiles!

January feels like the ultimate reset. Not like September when you’re catching some fresh momentum, but like starting off with a completely clean slate.

It’s a whole new year to set goals, make changes and try new things. And, of course, concentrate harder on what’s really working for you.

After the craziness of the holidays, it makes for a good time to catch your breath and recenter yourself around your business. For me, January is less about going harder and more about getting clearer.

And one of the most powerful places to start? Your social media profiles.

Why a Profile Refresh Matters

Your social media profiles are often the very first impression someone has of your business. Before they DM you, click your website, or book your services, they check your bio, your photos, and your links.

Ask yourself this: “If someone landed on my profile today, would they immediately know who I am, who I help, and what I offer?”

If not, January is the perfect time to fix that.

A quick refresh builds trust, removes confusion, and sets the tone for the year ahead.

What “Refreshing” Actually Means

Refreshing DOES NOT mean starting over. It means making sure your profiles reflect where your business is now (and not where it was last year or three years ago.)

We’re talking small updates to tweak your profiles so they’re ready for the new year.

Start With One Platform

You do NOT need to update everything at once. Choose one platform where your audience hangs out the most and start there. Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, whatever makes the most sense for your business.

Here’s a quick checklist:

  • Update your bio so it reflects your current services

  • Swap out outdated profile or cover photos

  • Check that your links still work and make sense

  • Remove expired promotions or old highlights

  • Adjust your tone to match how you want to show up in 2026

These small changes can make a big difference in how professional, clear, and trustworthy your brand feels.

Google yourself.

Seriously. Take a moment and check Google for how you show up online.

Look at your business the way a potential customer would. That outside perspective often reveals gaps you’ve stopped noticing.

January is a great time, before things pick up, to freshen things up so you’re able to get out there with confidence that you won’t get an email from a potential client asking about a promotion that’s long gone!

What I’ve decided to concentrate on in 2026? Here’s my order:

  • LinkedIn

  • Blog

  • Google

  • Instagram

  • Facebook

I’ll be getting rid of Threads. It’s time to be where my clients really are. If you found your way here from one of these platforms, comment below to tell me how you found this post!
